I immediately called Greg (who had just gotten to work since he stayed with me yesterday morning after getting the news) and told him he needed to get back to the hospital ASAP. Within minutes my room was full and my OB was there asking how long it would be before Greg arrived. Apparently my OB suspected, which was later proven to be true, that since I had not dilated anymore but was bleeding pretty badly that one of the babies had a placental abruption. Turned out it was Baby A (boy). Within an hour I was in the OR and the doctors were getting me ready. I'll write another time about the actual c/s, which was awful.
At 3:39pm our boy, Elijah, met the world screaming his head off, weighing 4 lbs 4 oz. I am not sure what his apgar score was, but he was doing well enough that they let Greg take him and bring him over to me.
Two minutes later at 3:41pm our girl, Hazel, was born weighing 3 lbs 14 oz. She, however, did not cry. Her apgar at birth was only 2 and there was a lot of rushing around and they bagged her to breath for her. It was pretty scary, but I don' think anyone let me know the extent of it until later.
After being in recovery for what seemed like years they wheeled me in the bed into the NICU to see the babies. I was pretty drugged up, so I don't actually remember most of it (side effect from the awful c/s). This morning I was able to go down in a wheelchair to finally see them.
They are both doing well. Elijah is only on a nasal canula for breathing, but they are actually already weaning him off of it. He also has an IV in his hand, but other than fluids I don't think he has needed anything.
Hazel needed a bit more help breathing, she was on CPAP with oxygen last night, and today she is on CPAP with only room air. They are already bringing down the CPAP and we hope she will be off of it soon enough. She also has a central line in her bellybutton, just in case she needs anything.
I will try and update more later with details on c/s and my feelings about our babies coming the same day as my grandma's passing. For the time being, here are a few pictures of our new little ones.
Hazel needing a bit of help breathing, she looks so tiny with all that hooked up to her:( We didn't get any pics of her yesterday b/c of the scare, so this is from the NICU this morning.

I would think of their birth on the same day as a last gift from your grandma, and that she wanted you to be happy instead of sad. :) It sounds like they are doing well- I'll be praying for a very short NICU time for them.
