Test results

The test results came back normal. This, thankfully, means that there are no intestinal blockages and rules out Hirschsprung's disease:) They can't fully rule out NEC, but the dr is very adamant that he does not suspect it at this point.

So, they are trying the other formula and we are hoping he does better with it. So far he has had a few feeds with it with out any residuals or vomit. Fingers crossed.

Another idea the dr has is that maybe the round of antibiotics he got last week killed off the good bacteria in his digestive tract and he will just need time for it to regenerate. That is kind of a wait and see thing. We are definitely relieved at this point, but are still really hoping to figure out what could be wrong. As seems normal with the NICU, I guess we wait and see what happens tonight and reassess tomorrow.

Let's not forget Hazel:) She is doing really well and her few spit-ups are fairly normal and she might just have a bit of reflux. She is able to do every other feed on the bottle, which is a great step forward. She is now what they call a 'feeder and grower' meaning other than mastering her feeding and getting a bit bigger, there is nothing wrong with her. Fingers crossed that she progresses really well in the next week and she gets to come home soon.

So, good news for the most part. In celebration here is a pic of the babies holding hands:)

i love the pic. our kids never really got to be by each other while they were in the NICU, they were bedded across the unit from each other. b would be with one while i was with the other. :(

glad to hear that the tests came back good. let's hope things continue to progress well! :)

That's great news! I'm jealous that your twins get to be with each other - they kept mine in seperate isolettes. Feeding with the bottle is a great step and so exciting! Keep growing babies!
