Book Review

The Infertility Survival Guide: Everything You Need to Know to Cope with the Challenges while Maintaining Your Sanity, Dignity, and Relationships. Author Judith Daniluk, PhD.

I picked this book up for our local Half-Price Books and have found it quite informative and helpful. There are two sections in particular I have found the most useful:
  • Basic Strategies for Surviving Infertility: Be Assertive! -Assertiveness is not my strength, actually I turn and run away from any kind of confrontation or conflict, however, I have found my inner strength to be that bitch I knew was possible! This new found ability has proven useful both personally, but also professionally:)
  • Dealing with Significant and Insignificant Others -This is where I learned that I do not have to attend baby showers...really, they give you permission not to go. While dealing with the significant people in our lives has not been the most difficult (well...some more than others), it is the 'insignificant' people that we needed help with. For instance, at the gym last week the complete stranger who sat next to me decided the second question to ask besides where I live is if we have children. Is that really your business? My grumpy reply was "Nope. Maybe we never will."
