Now that the drama of my gallbladder is passed (well, until we hear from the surgeon on Monday) we are starting to settle in to having a baby at home. At our house. OUR baby. So strange. So nice:)
I know I am totally going to jinx myself here, but I cannot believe what a mellow baby Hazel is. She is so good! We are sleeping in shifts and got pretty good sleep last night. I had the first shift, 12-4am, Greg got the second shift, 4-8am. So far here is what the schedule looks like -11:30-12am eat, 12-12:15am diaper change and maybe change clothes then swaddle, 12:15-3am sleep, 3-3:30 eat, 3:30-3:45 diaper change and maybe change clothes then swaddle, 3:45-6:30am sleep, 6:30-7am eat, 7-7:15 diaper change and maybe change clothes then swaddle, 7:15-10am sleep. This schedule continues all day long! She does have a few wakeful periods, but they seem to be in the evening.
Hopefully this is not a one day thing. The nurses at the NICU have mentioned that we have very good, quiet, and mellow twins. Maybe that is the gift I get from all the complications I've had -easy babies!
Having Hazel home has definitely made us very aware that our little family is still not complete. I went to see Eli today and had an even more difficult time leaving. It was so sad to see him there all alone in his little crib, no sister to keep him company:( He has been losing a bit of weight and not really wanting to eat as much. I really do think he can tell that Hazel is gone. And I am sure that he can tell that we are not there as much. Since someone has to stay with Hazel neither of us has been able to stay with Eli for more than a few hrs at a time. Tomorrow my mom is coming by and is going to watch Hazel so we can go to the NICU together. We really hope he will be home with us by the end of next week, he really just needs to get back on track with his feeds.
Today my babies are 3 weeks old! Hopefully by the time they celebrate one month they will be home together.

i remember being super sad when only baby girl was home, it all just seems "right" when they're both there.

It makes me smile to read your happy post about Hazel. I can't wait to read about your "complete" family at home. It will be coming soon!
Woo Hoo!!! Sounds wonderful.
Our mellow twins have stayed that way, excluding teething pain, so I think the NICU behavior can totally last!
