I just got back from my first acupuncture appointment with the hope of it curing the nausea. It was interesting to compare to the acupuncture for IVF appointments I've had.
She started by taking one of those soup spoons they give you at Asian restaurants along with some oil and massaging the back of my neck and down my back on the right side. It's apparently the gall balder path. She said it is to bring the irritation to the skin, so she did it until it got nice and red.
Then she did some typically points with the needles, hands, legs, feet, but also did a few on my chest, kidney points. She also gave me a few food ideas, something called congee-really overcooked rice mixed with veggies. I will give it a try. I will give anything a try.
I've been feeling pretty sick today, and it is not gone, yet. I'll let you know if it works:) Here's to hoping my weekend is nausea free!

Hi Andrea,
I just found your blog-Congratulations on the success of your IVF, but I am sorry that you're having a tough time with the nausea. I am intrigued however that you're trying acupuncture for your nausea. It is quite rare to find women willing to try traditional chinese medicine (TCM) for infertility or any problems associated with pregnancy.
I am battling with endometriosis and infertility and I am also resorting to TCM myself (herbs & acupuncture), as western medicine has no cure for endometriosis. It is a lonely journey for me in the sense that I haven't found any bloggers who share the same path as me. So I am thrilled to have stumbled upon your post. I would be most curious to know how acupuncture is doing for your nausea.I hope it works and that you're feeling better!
Holy crap! I can't believe you are almost 16 weeks pregnant already! I really hope the acupuncture and the congee helps with your nausea. Here's to a throw-up free weekend!
Interesting! Definitely hoping it helps. My nausea is nothing compared to yours and I still was/ am miserable. I can't imagine!
I'm sure you are receiving TONS of advice so I'll throw out one to you that worked for me during the m/s part of my short pregnancy . . . acupuncture did alieviate (sp?) the nausea a bit but I went weekly. What really made a difference was taking vit B6 when eating my crackers before getting out of bed. Holy cow! It was like gagging/vomitting one day and mild nausea the very next day! It's worth a shot since it's a natural vitamin, right? Good luck! xoxo Ali
