Acupuncture

I have my acupuncture consult today at 4:30pm. I am not sure what to expect, but have a feeling that I will be poked. I am a bit nervous, and excited.

I had to fill out a crap-ton of paperwork, from medical history, to a questionnaire about things like my bowel movements (which are pretty much non-existent, thank you Lupron). There were also questions about the color of my tongue, and if my feet stink:) hehe. I didn't know they could cure stinky feet with acu...or maybe it is just a warning for them in case you have to take your shoes off.

IVF update-just waiting for good ole Aunt Flow to show up, then stims will start. I think we are looking at ER around June 15th. Everything seems so lax at this point sometimes I think we will forget to do the injections in the morning. It is a nice to feel like everything is normal, and that my life is not being turned upside down for this process.

Duck in our flowerbox update-she had 9! ducklings. They all jumped out on Saturday and made their way down the street. I took some pics and will try and remember to upload them soon. They were DAMN cute. I really wanted to steal one. 9? She probably wouldn't have noticed, or would have been thankful to let one go:)

Good luck at your acupuncturist today. I hate needles but LOVE acupuncture. It's hard not to be nervous the first time but 90% of the needles don't hurt at all and the 10% that do it last a nanosecond. It helped my nerves to breathe in as she's setting the needle up and breathe out as the needle goes in. By the time your breath is all out you won't feel anything!

I did acupuncture for IF, but not IVF. They ask for the color of your toungue because it relates to the staus of your "chi". Anyway, for me it was hard to relax the first few times, but the more I did it the more I enjoyed it. Would you believe that my insurance covers elective acupunture, but nothing else for IF?

Good luck with your appointment. Hope you're able to relax more than I did.

Good Luck with acupuncture. It does wonders for a womens cycle and her body. I have been going for a year and I cant tell you the difference - they were amazing - and I have bloodwork results to prove it.
Definitely do it with your IVF next time. I had my first IVF this week and went before and after and apparently its supposed to be a great help to transfers!!!
Best of Luck!

I also love acupuncture and agree with satto on the breathe in and out when the needle goes in. The deep breathing relaxes you and it just feels more natural. I've had some try to talk to me while putting in the needles, "soo... how was your weekend.." - I just thought- listen-- I'm not getting my hair cut. Let me be! I'm trying to get centered here!
I never think they hurt, some just ZING... and I kinda like those because I feel like they are actually doing something. Some have nice fertility meditation tapes you can play during the period when you're resting. I enjoy those coupled with a soothing lavendar eye pillow. Think of it as a spa treatment instead of something that nears torture. Thinking about you and hope those nasty headaches are staying at bay!

I just started acupuncture on Friday for our IVF cycle at the end of June- I hope you like it as much as I do so far. I have high hopes for it to help!

I hope it went well today. I've gone to the acupuncturist several times now. I've not noticed anything about my cycle changing, but I've had pretty good luck with them helping with my high-arch pain.

I hate needles too but found that the acupuncture was relaxing. I am sure you will like it. It is nothing like getting shots. www.infertilityinstability.blogspot.com
