WTF scheduled

Our WTF appointment will be on April 27th. I already have a short list of questions, but would very much welcome any suggestions.

We are going to ask about doing another fresh vs. using our frozen embies. Cost, stats, etc. We are leaning toward doing another fresh cycle....if their rate is still what it was when we did this cycle. If not, well, I guess we are back to square one with decision making.

Also, I left a message for our IVF nurse today, my bum still has welts and redness from the PIO shots, which ended nearly 2 weeks ago. Oh, and it itches. Yes, I have an itchy bum. I am assuming this is not normal, and hope she has an easy fix.

Hey there,
We had that meeting last week. It is so hard to sit there and look at stats, and wonder what if? I would definetly ask them about ISCI. And if you have any frozen ones, maybe use those first.

Also be prepared to talk about donor eggs. I never thought I would have that conversation, but it happened - so mentally prepare yourself and your hubby for at least talking about it.

Good Luck! ((hugs))

my bum also itched about 2 weeks after I started the PIO shots- I got little red bumps around the injection sites and it itched! It has since gone away so I wouldn't worry but please let me know if your nurse tells you differently!

I'm new to your blog but I had the same thing with the PIO shots. About 1 week after they stopped, I had an itchy rash that didn't go away for about 2-3 weeks. My RE said it was normal to have a reaction like that as PIO isn't as "pure" as other injectable drugs, which causes a reaction in some people.

Definitely ask if they are going to make any changes to your protocol - what can they do differently this time? They might tell you, "Nothing" and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes the first cycle just doesn't work. Someone else mentioned ICSI so that's worth asking about too. I'm assuming you've already seen their success rates?

If the fresh cycle is still the same price, I would recommend doing that again and saving the frozens. I did a fresh (failed) and then used my frozens right away and I think it was even more disappointing when it didn't work. The success rates are lower with frozens so just make sure you are in the frame of mind if you decide to do that.

I hope that your WTF appointment goes well.
I am hopeless at knowing what to ask! I have been learning to become more involved in the decision making process.
I would ask why they thought it didn't work and what they would do differently next time.
I really hope the next cycle is a good one for you.

I had numbness and itching down my legs after the first time I used PIO - by the time the 2nd and 3rd rolled around, it went away...not sure if that makes you feel better or not...

my clinic actually has better numbers for frozen cycles...so that's worth looking into. i think it's a good idea to ask what they would do differently. i know that it sucks to have a failed cycle....but they learn things from that, they gain info on how to make things better the next time (or at least that is what i told myself after our first cycle!!) :)

looking forward to hearing what they say!!
