Eli had his surgery on Oct 14. The day was pretty uneventful, he didn't seem the least bothered by it, he even woke up for the anesthesia playing with the nurses. Though, he was not too amused once we started putting the braces on his arms (keeps the arms from bending, so as to not rub his eyes).
He was kind cranky for a few days (rightfully so!) and we saw a difference in the alignment of his eyes within a day. They got better (not perfect)! But, less than two weeks later his eyes completely crossed again. We went back to the doctor and he confirmed for us that the crossing was much more severe than he thought and the muscles are very stubborn.
What this means is surgery again in the spring. This time they will operate on the outer eye muscles and tighten them (last time was the loosening the inner muscles). The doc explained to us that they will try to get Elijah's eyes as good as they can by the time he is 2 yrs old (b/c studies show that this is the critical time for long term vision impact), but that it might never be perfect.
We go back to the Eye Clinic in a few weeks and will know surgery dates then. My poor little guy:(

:( I was hoping for good news! But the amazing thing is that there are so many advances these days!
I haven't mentioned this before, but I amazed at how much the 2 LOs look alike!
Pleased he was ok during it but sorry it has not worked. So frustrating. Hope it works this time

I'm so glad he aced the surgery, but I'm so sorry he has to go back again! Poor baby boy!
I have to tell you, they are just the cutest babies! So adorable!
Thanks for sharing the information about his surgery. My daughter is likely going to need eye surgery and I'm feeling much better about it after hearing that Elijah did so well with it. I hope the second surgery goes a lot better for him.
